Sue’s Super Stars

It's been almost a year since we first met in puppy class.  The dog I have today is all because of you.  You didn't teach him, you taught me how to teach him.  In all my years of having dogs, I've never had one like this.  Don't get me wrong, he still has his "Maverick moments", but he is only a year old and that's to be expected.

When I come home from work every morning, he knows it's training time.  I spend a solid 20 minutes working with him on whatever the weekly refresh lesson is (based on something that has slipped a little or become inconsistent).  Every afternoon we have an hour of playtime which is usually fetch...his favorite or on the warmer days, fetch in the pool.  After dinner, Jerry walks him three miles and on my days off I take him to the marina for his walk.  Jerry has added a bike ride to the mix and Maverick took to it with flying colors.  We had been concerned he might think being in the street was ok, but he has learned the difference...he can only go in the street when he's going for a bike ride or crossing during walks.  My favorite brag tho is his ability to be off leash.  Jerry started a few months ago removing the leash near the end of their walks a couple houses from ours and has increased it to the end of the block.  He stays right by Jerry's side until they get to the driveway and he then runs to the front door (Maverick not Jerry hahaha).  Maverick can actually be allowed out the front door to greet someone coming to our house, greet them nicely, and then come inside with us.  He also does the same in reverse, he can go out the front door to walk people to their cars to leave and then comes back in the house with us.  He ignores dogs walking by, kids on bikes, delivery trucks/people and even the mailman.  I never thought I could have him off leash in my front yard with confidence, but he has never failed me.

Thank you for teaching me how to do all these things and also giving me the confidence that my Maverick was smart enough to do them.  We miss seeing you every week!  Dona and Maverick

"Sue Myles is awesome and we love her!" She is a true dog lover and she understands what is needed to make dogs successful and happy pets! Sue trained my mom's springer spaniel and he is the best behaved dog I have ever met! I was so impressed with what I had witnessed with the training of my moms dog and heard about Sue's excellent classes that I decided to enroll my new puppy in her training classes. The classes are fun and informative. I have learned a lot from Sue. Sue believes in kind training and not yelling and screaming at dogs. There are many trainers who don't treat dogs well so it was important for me to find more of an intuitive trainer who would not hurt, or scare my young dog. I am really happy we found Sue and feel lucky to have her training our dogs. We will always make her classes even if we have to drive from Malibu. Thanks to Sue for all you do!!!!! The best doggie trainer that we know!

After 4 trainers, and several lessons learned, we found Sue. Hamilton started with a private lesson and has since attended several classes. He will be 3 in a couple months and the last 6 months we have learned so much and best of all its working! We are supported and encouraged! A couple of months ago we moved back to Los Angeles and now make the 1.5hr drive midweek in traffic to train with the best! What you get from Sue is priceless. She is worth far beyond what she is charging and the saying is true, you get what you pay for:

  • Emergency Recall Class vs Vet for injured dog (if you are lucky) = $2000 (plus trauma and stress and likely occurs right before payday)

  • Puppy Class vs destroyed items (& maybe more vet bills depending on what was ingested) because you don’t have the proper information on how to keep dog mentally and safely stimulated

  • Family Dog class vs Dog bite because you aren’t learning how to read body language of a dog.

Dog training is work for both the owner and pet. Dogs are expensive and its great to be cost conscious, however, training is NOT where you want to cheap out. Quality over quantity. If you are reading this, stop second guessing, and sign up for the classes. I promise you won’t be disappointed!
