Family Pet (Level 2) - 5 Week Class

$25.00

Class Total Cost: $395
(Deposit of $25 is required to reserve your spot in class)

5 Week Class (One Hour Classes)

This class is a continuation of the Family Pet Level One. Dogs must be non-aggressive to both humans and dogs and know basic commands taught in Family Pet Level One.

I do not use clickers. Please do not bring them to class.

I use head collars and harnesses as these are gentle and effective tools. I do not use choke chains, pinch, or shock collars.

This class strengthens your dog's ability to listen under increased distractions. Food rewards are slowly used less and less as the class progresses. Commands taught in the Family Pet Level One class are perfected in this class for maximum reliability.

  • Wandering Sit. Teach your dog to listen at a distance

  • Stay while tennis balls are bounced/food is tossed in front. Heeling with dogs mixing and walking past one another. Stay while dogs walk through a group

  • Figure 8 and Serpentine Heeling

  • Over-the-shoulder leash work to prepare for off-leash work in the Advanced class

  • Come with difficult distractions

  • Right, left, and center positions

  • Decreasing the use of food rewards. Intermittent and time sequence rewards

  • More advanced handling techniques. Loose leash, no repeating commands, no pushing the dog into position, using the leash as a cue, etc.

  • Three minute stay leash dropped

  • How to go to the heel position two ways

  • This class teaches Therapy Dog Skills

By the end of this class, your dog should be able to do functional, daily commands with hand with increasing reliability. To progress to Advanced and Service Dog classes, dogs must be proficient in these skills.

Please note: If you've done training elsewhere and think our pet is suitable for Level Two please email me. Let's work together to be sure we have the right class for lifelong success.
